32 | Camera | Q. RTSP stream commands of IDIS IP cameras | 2015-07-06
A.
To receive stream via RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol), RTSP player is required. VLC player is one of the most popular players.(http://www.videolan.org/) The command line for playing remote live video via RTSP is below. rtsp://ID:Password@IPaddress:RTSP port number/trackID=‘channel number
Please refer to the capture below for an example. |

31 | Camera | Q. Which infrared-ray wavelength is used with IR Camera? | 2015-07-06
A.
850nm Infrared-ray is illuminated from the IR-LED. In general, humanity can see wavelength up to 780nm (visible light wavelength: 380nm ~ 780nm) |

30 | General | Q. How can IDIS device detect the audio input event? | 2015-07-06
A.
For audio detection, the device (ex. DirectIP camera) calculates the average power of the audio signal that is transmitted for a specific time (6.5 seconds). |

29 | General | Q. How to check the current external IP address | 2015-07-06
A.
External IP address means the IP address on the public internet side. Commonly our PC might have the internal IP address range which is assigned from gateway such as NAT(Network address translation). NAT helps us to use one public internet IP over many network devices.
The reason that you have to check the external IP address is that it is needed to connect the NVR or camera from the internet. The client uses the external IP to reach the target.
You can check the external IP address if you visit the following sites. |

28 | General | Q. What is DDNS? | 2015-07-06
A.
DDNS is Dynamic DNS(Domain Name System). DDNS always tracks and keeps the available IP address of the server. When the client inquires the information to connect the server, DDNS service responds to a request. So that the client can connect to the server correctly with the connection information. |

27 | General | Q. How do I make a Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 patch or crossover cable? | 2015-07-02
A.
To minimize packet loss, the wiring has to be aligned exactly according to the standard.
If both end patches are assembled as T568B, the cable can be used for ordinary LAN cable for CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6. In case of a crossover cable, one of patch cords shall be a type of T568A, another one shall be a type of T568B. Nowadays most ethernet adaptors support to recognize the type of connector between T568A and T568B.

26 | Video Recorder | Q. Can I use other brand's network camera with IDIS NVR? And, which kind of cameras is supported? | 2015-03-24
A.
Yes. Our NVRs support the Axis, Panasonic, and OnVIF network protocols for other brands' network cameras. So if your camera has one of the protocols mentioned above, it can be used with our NVRs though the performance is not as good as the DirectIP cameras. Of course, our non-DirectIP network cameras can connect with our NVRs. |

25 | Camera | Q. What is Smart IR? | 2015-03-23
A.
Normally, when a camera uses infrared LED arrays for wide-area illumination at night, you may see the overexposure image when the object is closed to the IR camera. |

24 | Camera | Q. Can I use DirectIP cameras with other 3rd party NVRs? like Milestone? | 2015-03-23
A.
If you wish to connect DirectIP cameras to non-DirectIP NVR or VMS, you should change the DirectIP camera’s protocol to ONVIF protocol using our INIT (Integrated Network Installation Tool) software. If the cameras are rebooted after the protocol change, the DirectIP camera will operate as an ONVIF camera. |

23 | Camera | Q. Do DirectIP cameras have spot output? | 2015-03-23
A.
Many DirectIP cameras have spot output. By spot output, the image can be seen during the installation in the NTSC/PAL D1 resolution. But, some cameras do not support spot output. So, you should check whether your cameras support spot output or not. |

22 | Video Recorder | Q. What is the difference between Standalone NVR and PC-based NVR? | 2015-03-23
A.
There are two types of NVR: Standalone NVR and PC-based NVR. The Standalone NVR is mostly built on Linux OS (Operating System) based system designed for embedded processors, while the PC-based NVR is mainly MS Windows OS based system designed for PC platforms with dedicated boards for video surveillance. * Benefits of a PC-based NVR |

21 | Video Recorder | Q. What does a ‘Network Throughput’ mean in the NVR? | 2015-03-23
A.
A network throughput in the NVR means local and remote multimedia data transmission rates of the network port in the NVR. For example, if maximum network throughput for local multimedia data recording and monitoring are 200Mbps and 50Mbps, respectively, and maximum network throughput for remote multimedia data transmission is 10Mbps, then maximum network throughput of the NVR is 260Mbps, which is calculated as the sum of local and remote multimedia data throughput. Using a network throughput, the total number of IP cameras connected to an NVR can be determined for real-time video monitoring and recording. That is, network throughput is important information to design and construct the NVR based network surveillance system. |

20 | Video Recorder | Q. Can I swap eSATA storage while NVR is working? | 2013-05-05
A.
No. Currently, eSATA ports in NVR do not support hot swapping. So, you should connect eSATA storage to NVR before NVR is powered up. Otherwise, NVR does not recognize eSATA storage. On the other hand, if eSATA storage is swapped out while NVR is working, NVR can detect that situation and record data to another HDD. |

19 | Video Recorder | Q. Is it possible to carry one HDD from a specific NVR to another and retrieve it? | 2013-04-28
A.
Yes. NVR can retrieve and display the recoded audio/video data in HDD carried from another NVR. |
